So, let’s explore….

A marriage is not just coming together of a boy and a girl for the purpose of living together and procreation; it is much more than that. A boy and a girl are not just two persons with opposite genders; they symbolize energies doing two different type of work for human existence, not just at physical level but at mental and spiritual level as well.  On the basis of the work being carried out by this energy, it is either called masculine and feminine. When it is nourishing, caring and emotionally strong, it is feminine and when it is analytical, rational and practical then it is masculine and both are necessary for every individual, whether it is boy or a girl.

The Metaphor

According to Yogic textures, among all the energy centers in the human body, which are called Nadis, fourteen carries both kind of energy. Three prominent among them are ‘Ida’, ‘Pingala’ and ‘Sushumna’, which originates from base of spine, known as Muladhara and are connected to brain.  ‘Ida’ flows on left side of the spinal column and terminates in the left nostril, ‘Pingala’ flows on the right side of the spinal column and terminates in the right nostril while ‘Sushumna’ flows right in the central spinal column. When we take breath, these Nadis gets activated and brings out behavioral actions accordingly. Energy flowing through ‘Ida’ terminates in left nostril and from there it goes to right hemisphere of the brain, which controls our emotions, language, activities which requires stable position, calm mind and soft approach and that’s why it is called feminine in nature. Energy flowing through ‘Pingala’ terminates in the right nostril and from there it goes to left hemisphere of the brain, which controls our logic, rational, activities which requires high level of physical movement, high level of mental activity and tough approach and that’s why it is called masculine in approach. So, every individual, irrespective of gender, has masculine and feminine energy flowing through it. While masculine energy is required to hard work, feminine energy brings in mental and emotional stability and without it, no one can achieve any success and happiness in life.

Now, look at the picture once again and tell me what you are seeing. Is it still a picture of a bride going to her in-law’s place? Can’t this be a picture of any individual inviting its feminine energy with all the respect, because it is needed for his mental and emotional stability, success and happiness in life? I am leaving the answer on you.
